Dongyun Joo received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Seoul National University of Science and Technology. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at Korea University, where he is a member of the Digital eXPerience Lab (DXP LAB) under the supervision of Professor Gerard Jounghyun Kim.His research, titled “Enhancing User Experience through Emotionally and Cognitively Adaptive Systems,” focuses on improving digital interactions by integrating insights from emotion and cognition. His academic interests include Affective Computing, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), Cognitive Science, and Psychology.During his internship at IMD LAB, he aimes to investigate ways to reduce cybersickness in autonomous vehicles by integrating virtual reality with a haptic chair system and exploring the role of human cognitive modes in autonomous driving contexts.Outside of academics, he enjoys watching musicals and live concerts, playing board games and escape room games. He also enjoys shopping for clothes, staying active through sports and gym workouts, and spending time with friends at cafes or bars.
